What We Do

What We Do Clara Maass FoundationThe Foundation plays an integral role in raising funds for the facilities, programs and services offered by Clara Maass Medical Center. Through a variety of giving opportunities, Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation works with donors to support the many projects that help enhance the health and quality of life in our communities.  Foundation staff and Board Members are happy to collaborate with friends ranging from major corporate partners to local groups and individuals to identify that special project that speaks to their heart.

Oncology Services

Through the gifts of Clara Maass Medical Center Oncology Servicesdonors to the Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation, the Radiation Oncology reception and treatment areas have been renovated and redesigned. Radiation services are provided in an outpatient facility that offers the most advanced technologies in cancer treatment in concert with surroundings and programs that address the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families.

The Foundation funded $1.2 million for a state-of-the-art linear accelerator. Unlike conventional radiation therapy, this technique, called intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), can precisely target irregularly shaped tumors while effectively sparing healthy surrounding tissue. This machine allows the Medical Center to deliver the most advanced treatment close to home.

The Foundation designed, and raised funds for, a Room of Healing as a place where inpatients and their families find respite during cancer treatment at the Medical Center. The room has family style seating, relaxing art work, books and magazines for pleasure reading as well as a resource center, plants, flowers and a soothing healing fountain.

Emergency Medicine
Emergency Medicine at Clara MaassWith Capital Campaign contributions, the Foundation has significantly enhanced the vital services offered by Clara Maass Medical Center’s Emergency Department. The redesign included larger patient areas, mobile information terminals and repositioned X-ray, blood bank and 24-hour labs for quicker response. A fast-track area helps doctors treat patients with minor problems more quickly, decreasing the time spent in the Emergency Department. Since 2001, Clara Maass Medical Center's Emergency Department volume has nearly doubled from 32,000 to 60,490 patient visits annually.

Obstetrics at Clara Maass Medical CenterObstetrics
Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation is proud to have helped fund the addition of a new wing in the hospital’s state-of-the-art Maternity Center, Little Lullabies. Located on the fourth floor, the expansion has allowed for private rooms, a Parent Education Room, and a special area where donors can showcase the names of children born at Clara Maass on our A Star is Born display.

New mothers (and fathers) will feel all the comforts of home after their delivery in private Post Partum rooms. These private maternity suites offer all the comforts of home in an intimate setting with a flat panel television and a pullout bed for partners or guests. Each maternity room has been renovated, attractively decorated and equipped with Internet access. These rooms allow for a quiet and comfortable setting to enjoy your newborn.

Obstetrics at Clara Maass Medical Center

At Clara Maass Medical Center, we believe preparation for childbirth is central to the philosophy of total care. A dedicated Parent Education Suite offers a variety of classes, educational DVDs and high-speed Internet access for new parents to tailor their educational experience. Classes include Prepared Childbirth Series, Refresher Class, Infant Care Class and a New Mothers Support Group.

A loving – and permanent – way to celebrate the birth of a baby is to take advantage of the A Star is Born program. The names and birthdates of children born at Clara Maass Medical Center can be etched on one of the stars comprising a glass artwork prominently displayed in the Maternity lobby. Whether a special baby was born was yesterday, last year or decades ago, a star can be arranged in their honor.

Children’s Health

Pediatric services It isn’t easy to be a sick child, or the parent of a child who is ill.  If you wish to direct your gift to the facilities, medical technologies, or programs that help and heal, there are many opportunities to offer support with your donation.  Clara Maass Medical Center’s Child Life Program helps reduce the stress and trauma associated with hospitalization and brightens the hospital experience for young patients.  Our Emergency Department has a designated area designed just for children, including child-friendly patient bays and a special waiting room/play area.  The 21-bed Pediatrics Unit includes a playroom equipped with books, games and toys.  And you can also direct your gift to the purchase of specialized equipment for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of children.

The Foundation is also happy to facilitate the donation of in-kind gifts of new toys, books, and clothing or coordinate visits from service groups, church and synagogue groups, and other service organizations.  In addition, we are glad to hear from individuals or groups who wish to sponsor events benefiting CMMC children’s programs.
