Dear Family and Friends,

On Sunday, September 26, 2010, I am participating in Clara Maass Medical Center’s LIFELINE CHALLENGE TO HEALTHY LIVING, A Walk & Ride to Eliminate and Prevent Childhood Obesity in Our Communities.  This family friendly event will take place at Essex County Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ.

Obesity is a serious problem.  The number of obese children in the United States has increased threefold over the past thirty years.  Fifty percent of New Jersey’s residents are at risk of developing serious obesity related problems, such as diabetes, heart disease, joint and spine problems, and sleep apnea.  I want to help educate children and their families about the importance of healthy eating and active lifestyles. Together, we can help eliminate and prevent childhood obesity in New Jersey.
